Putting the men in 20thcentury safari suits was a deliberate play with the concept of throwing together the familiar and strange.

Riding on the murderous beasts, Sadness, Anger, and Despair, is a dangerous undertaking. But the woman's will overpowers that of the monsters, forcing them to stay on the path she chooses.

Adam Warlock was genetically engineered on earth, by a group of scientists known as the Enclave, to be the perfect human being. This didn't quite work of course and they were destroyed when their prodigy went out into the world. Known only as Him, He got into various scrapes, notably with the god Thor, before retreating into his birth-cocoon.

In ancient times, according to Chilean mythology, monstrous creatures burst forth from a huge crevice near the Patagonian mountains to extend their evil underground kingdom to the earth's surface. Adarbal, son of the earth and most powerful warrior on land, stood at the crevice and destroyed the demons?all except one, who escaped back underground and to this day reappears as earthquakes.

She might become a warrior queen?strong and fierce, savage and proud, mistress of the terrible dragons that dwell in the high mountains. The enchanted Runeblade would be hers, the legendary sword wielded by the heroes of old.

The alabaster city sits on top of the gigantic mountain in the center of the only continent on the planet Oormamteb. In the city, on a table cut from an emerald, is a dr cup fashioned froni a diamond. From each of the four sides of the cup flow two things good and two things bad.

Another painting for the CFM exhibition. At some point Julie would like to do a book of purely symbolic pieces like this. The title hints at Coleridge's 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner', the point being that the albatrosses people carry around their necks come in many different forms. Oils, 20 x 15 inches (51 x 38 cm)

The Art Nouveau border just suggested itself as painting began but there was no punch line until Julie thought that perhaps instead of panties, the female might be removing her outer skin or costume and thereby transmuting from base metal to gold, as in the alchemist's dream. This painting is an illustration for the 1990 Mythology Calendar, and appears for the month of January. Julie's first professionally modelling assignment proved to be momentous. It occasioned Boris and Julie's meeting for the very first time. Alpanu sometimes spelt Alpnu or Alpan was an Etruscan goddess of the underworld. She is shown as wearing jewellery, a loose cloak, and sandals. She is otherwise naked, and for this reason is believed to also have been a goddess of sexual activity.

This poster was made for the movie Amazons which was another joint American-Argentine fantasy film, directed by Hector Olivera. Made in 1986 based on the short story Agbewe's Sword, about the real-life female warriors of the West African Kingdom of Dahomey.

In Greek mythology, Andromeda is the daughter of the king of Aethiopia, Cepheus, and his wife Cassiopeia. When Cassiopeia boasts that she is more beautiful than the Nereids, Poseidon sends the sea monster Cetus to ravage the coast of Aethiopia as divine punishment. Andromeda is chained to a rock as a sacrifice to sate the monster, but is saved from death by Perseus, who marries her and takes her to Greece to reign as his queen.

This painting was designed for the Verkerke Reprodukties a Netherlands company who have produced many posters based on Boris and Julie paintings.

Based on a sculpture design for the Franklin Mint. one of four exotic motor-cycles that have proved very popular. Julie was so happy with this whole project that she wanted to see how one of her original drawings would look as a painting as well as a sculpture.

Julie was inspired here by the pretty, innocent look of the model (Josephine Maisonet), and by the texture of the fabric she's holding. Between them these suggested the wings, which are not too sharply defined and fade off into light on the right as if perhaps they and the angel are just materialising out of it.

Ant-Man (Scott Lang) is an ex-convict and electronics expert hired by Stark International, which enables him to steal the Ant-Man suit from Hank Pym, who had long since given up the name, to help his sick daughter.

This was done for a video game cover that was never released, none the less Boris enjoyed the experience of painting bent and twisted metal.

In Homers version Apollo took revenge on Python (referred to as Drakaini because he had chased his mother Leto delaying the birth of him and his twin sister Artemis. He battled the Python at Mount Parnassus, and eventually killed it.

Arachne was a shepherd's daughter who became a great weaver, she boasted that her skill was greater than that of the goddess Athena. Athena took offense and set up a contest between them. Athena looses the competition, enraged she turns Arachne into a spider.

Boris was inspired by Albert Beckles a bodybuilder who competed and won contests into his sixties. This illustration is one of many created for the book Mirage, His first wife Doris wrote the text.

This painting was a commission for a poster published in The Netherlands by Verkerke. Boris was given a free hand for the subject, but the posters dimensions had to be a long format. This format would be perfect as the center piece of a Boris/Julie calender, but oddly it was never used for this purpose.

This unused Advert for Michelob beer proved to be contentious, depicting a business-man drinking beer poured from a distinctive Michelob bottle whilst crushing a competitors 'inferior' can. Hercules second labor was to kill the Hydra. Acompanied by Iolaus, they encountered the Hydra in the swamps near Lerna. Each time Hercules removed a head the Hydra would grow another. Eventually the Hydra was defeated by Iolaus holding a torch to the headless necks preventing heads from regrowing, until finally Hercules removed all the heads.

The original SKU: J-272 was changed on Boris and Julies website to SKU: J-800. i have kept the original. The painting was also used as an illustration for the 2011 Fantasy Calendar, and appears for the month of April.
Of this painting Julie says she was pleased with the stormy atmosphere surrounding the couple, broken by the ray of pale sunshine: also by the precarious rock and water The female began as a blonde but this hot pink colour gave her a more unpredictable edge.

To make her distinct from a certain fiery Marvel superhero her body is ash-coloured.
