I recently did this drawing as a study for a future project that was going to be full-sized, full-colour paintings on a pair of library doors. Here's the story of the people depicted in the drawings:
My purpose with this diptych is to illustrate the passage and transformation of language and culture from the past to future generations.
On the left is Maajiigwaneyaash, whose English name is Gordon Jourdain. He is an elder in the Canada Lynx Clan of the Ojibwe tribe in Duluth, Minnesota. He had made it his mission to teach the younger people the language and stories of their tribe, many of which are also represented in the nighttime sky constellations. He speaks both English and Ojibwe, but primarily Ojibwe.`

Viper (Ophelia Sarkissian), formerly known as Madame Hydra is a foe of the Avengers and the X-Men. Viper was featured in the 2013 film The Wolverine, played by Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova.

Julie captures a bison herd grazing by the Madison River which is a headwater tributary of the Missouri River, approximately 183 miles long, in Wyoming and Montana.

A magical friendship between an innocent child and a powerful, protective dragon

One of the paintings for Tarot, a project Julie began with The Emperor in 2001, Boris added his painting Death to the project, even with Julies sons David and Anthony Palumbo helping out progress was slow. The Vallejo/Palumbo team finally gained the impetus to complete the project when beginning in November 2007 Heavy Metal Magazine featured four Tarot paintings per issue over the next twenty-two issues, ending in May 2011.

Having survived Auschwitz, Magneto(or Magnus as he was then known) had jaundiced views about likely human tolerance towards mutants, while Xavier dreamed of peaceful coexistence. They next met as enemies after Magneto declared war on all humans.

Magneto is the X-Men's arch foe, but he has on occasion been their ally and began as a great friend of Professor X. They met in Israel after the Second World War and had heated debates about the problem of coexistence between humans and mutants.

This painting an illustration for the 1993 Mythology Calendar, and appears for the month of August. According to Slavic legend The Carpathian Mountains are home to a species of vampire known as a Mahr. Living off the consumption of human souls, the Mahr swoops down upon its victim in the form of a moth, taking a bite or two before flying off. The more often a mahr attacks a single victim, the easier it becomes for the vampire to do so in the future. Eventually the prey is killed and the soul consumed.

A portrait the lion named Makini ('dignity' in Swahili) living at the Philadelphia Zoo. Makini was born at the Tulsa Zoo in 2010 and moved to Philadelphia Zoo when he was 3 years old.

Holocaust is a refugee from the Age of Apocalypse timeline, where his temper was not improved when he was physically destroyed and forced to adopt a suit of armour to contain his energies. His aim is to make the universe uninhabitable to any but himself, but luckily he gets repeatedly thwarted by various bands of superheroes.

Superman (Clark Kent) hides his identity and dresses as Superman when fighting crime. He lives in Metropolis, working as a journalist for the Daily Planet. His classic foe is Lex Luthor, who is either a mad scientist or a ruthless businessman, depending on the story.

The Legend of Manco C?pac and Mama Ocllo is one of the Inca myths that tells how the god Inti sent the spouses (and siblings) to earth in order civilize men, venerate the Sun god and found a great empire.

This piece was chosen to be featured in the movie, Mandy released in 2018. Julie commented `I’m blown away to be part of this film by Panos Cosmatos—it’s a true work of art! My drawing of Nicholas Cage was created for the film and is also featured on the beautiful soundtrack album.`

An Indian myth, The Man-Faced Manticore Feared as the terror of the Indian jungles, Manticore's had the body of a lion and the face of a man. They had razor-sharp teeth coupled with jaws that had the power to crush the thickest bones. They were hunted by the Maruts, a tribe of savage warrior-women who lived off the Manticore's flesh and made poisonous darts from their teeth.

A playful piece with one of Julies sons winning a game of marble against an increasingly angry opponent. Oil and Acrylic 11 x 15 inches.

Trading Card commissioned by NFL Quarterback Club, Inc. This player is a veteran who returned to the game from retirement, hence the phoenix. Julie also wanted to give his portrait something of the quality of an Indian chief as a token of his experience. Oil and Acrylic 11 x 15 inches.

Mariko Yashida was the daughter of Japanese crimelord Lord Shingen, leader of Clan Yashida. She and Wolverine first met when the X-Men sought the help of her cousin, Sunfire. ... Noburu-Hideki was a cruel man who beat Mariko. Mariko refused to leave with Wolverinebecause she felt duty-bound to obey her father's wishes.

Despite a lot of searching, I can find no references. As it appears in Boris 2 that would date it 1978 or earlier.

Apparently this artwork was a private commission based on the 1917 novel A Princess of Mars by author Edgar Rice Burroughs. A film John Carter Of Mars (based on the novel) was made a few years after this painting was completed.

Nadha has fled from the unendurable into a terrifying swamp. Among the swamp's raveners is an entity that might save a threatened wayfarer?if it so desired.
Nahda recognizes the necklace around the swan-thing's neck. She'd lost it in the swamp. She also sees the swan-thing's thick, unbirdlike tail dipping into the water. Suddenly, she knows that the bird is a shape-shifted limb of the python-thing in the water. The swamp is a living creature, and it's decided to save her.

Advert for Detroit Diesels, One of a series of Adverts done by Boris. An example of these posters is shown in Imaginistix. The engines lifespan was between 1974-1995, I believe this series of paintings appeared in advertisements in the 1980's early 90's.

This is one of the original paintings and drawings Boris created to illustrate Ladies: Retold Tales Of Goddesses And Heroines. The stories were written by his first wife Doris. In Greek mythology, Medea is an enchantress who helped Jason, leader of the Argonauts, to obtain the Golden Fleece.

This was painted for the 1991 Mythology Calendar appearing for the month of August. Medea, in Greek mythology, is the enchantress who helped Jason, leader of the Argonauts, to obtain the Golden Fleece from her father, King Ae?tes of Colchis. She was of divine descent and had the gift of prophecy. She married Jason and used her magic powers and advice to help him.

This painting is an illustration for the 1994 Fantasy Calendar, and appears for the month of August.
In Patagonian mythology, Yhtac was a mermaid who was considered to be the most beautiful and elusive of all creatures. Her tail was made of gold and her skin was of pearl. A powerful sorcerer, Arasmin, created two flying beasts to carry his castle around the world until they could find her. The beasts were created with only one wing apiece so they could not fly alone. Once Arasmin found Yhtac, he presented each of the beasts with a second wing and set them free. Arasmin then transformed himself into a sea creature so that he could join the lovely Yhtac.

An illustration for Mirage, for which Boris created many original pieces for the book, the text was done by his first wife Doris.

THE MESSENGER
Come with us. Our differences will make us stronger, and together we will travel into the unknown.

This was for an exhibition in San Francisco in 1998. It was also used to promote the show and was sold there as a limited edition print. The original itself sold almost immediately. What Boris wanted in the picture was to show the two sides of a personality the bright and the dark with the bird representing hope, of course. The theme offered a great chance to paint leather. Boris loves picking out the detail of the stitching and folds and the rich texture.

Card 2/18 of the JLA/Avengers Trading Card set. Nine of the cards combine to form a single painting by Boris Vallejo, the other nine combine to form a Jule Bell painting.
All the cards in the set were painted in 1995 but only two are dated.

This painting was a birthday present to Julie's father, Milton Bell, who is a highly respected architect in Texas. She painted him at work at his drawing board.

Barbarian heroine holding her own amid a nightmare of monstrous mutated bugs. She is a mutant herself, but plainly well adapted to her environment. The model for this calendar illustration was a friend of Boris' daughter.

This painting appeared on Julies instagram page on 21st October 2022 with the sentiment 'A little magical Capuchin wishing you a good morning!'. Oil on panel board is 16 x 16 inches in size.

Stalemate
The Dris came in all forms?dragons and devils, trolls and demons. They fought without a shred of honor, driven by their lust for death.

The album cover for Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose by Meat Loaf, on the Mercury (UK), Virgin (US) record labels, released in October 2006. Julie also painted the cover for Meat Loaf's albums Braver Than We Are (2016) and Hang Cool Teddy Bear (2010).

Possibly a preliminary for the book cover of The Monster Men by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This drawing is very similar to the James Allen St. John cover of the same title. Boris' version graced the fifth reprint of this novel in Feb 1977.

Now when he becomes enraged, he transforms into The Hulk a green-skinned, hulking and muscular humanoid possessing a vast degree of physical strength. The two exist as independent dissociative personalities, and resent each other.
